Some historic sources state the second capital of Armenia, Gyumri has been a major settlement still back in Middle Ages, carrying the name Kumayri-Gyumri-Alexandropol-Lenminakan-Kumayri, afterwards renamed Gyumri again.
Some historic sources state the second capital of Armenia, Gyumri has been a major settlement still back in Middle Ages, carrying the name Kumayri-Gyumri-Alexandropol-Lenminakan-Kumayri, afterwards renamed Gyumri again. Kumayri was first recorded in Armenian bibliography in 773-775, during the period of rebellion against Arabic empire.
