Ofelya K. Hambardzumyan was born on January 9th, 1925, in Yerevan. The singer studied at Romanos Melikyan Musical College, and was soon, afterwards, invited to the Ensemble of Folk Instruments of the Radio of Armenia.

The singer studied at Romanos Melikyan Musical College, and was soon, afterwards, invited to the Ensemble of Folk Instruments of the Radio of Armenia. She always remained loyal to Armenian troubadour and folk music, contributing to the creation and dissemination of composer music. Starting from 1944 Ofelya has been a soloist of Armenian Radio and TV Company Ensemble of Folk Instruments.
In 1959 she was awarded the title of USSR People’s Artist, and in 2011 received a “Mesrop Mashtots” medal.
