Armenian ethnographers, clergyman and scholars of Turkish studies share different opinions concerning General Vicar of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople Aram Ateshyan’s letter sent to Erdogan. Some of them consider Aram Ateshyan criticized the Bundestag resolution being imposed by Turkey. Others, however, believe, since the Bishop is the one in charge of the security of the Armenian community in Turkey, he should have refrained from political decisions, regardless of the pressure from Turkey.
