President Serzh Sargsyan received Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who has visited Armenia to attend the regular session of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
“During your previous official visit we discussed the more actual and sensitive issues of our agenda. I believe we will develop on this talk today: Our region is, indeed, going through hard times, as a result of gross violation from the Azerbaijani side on the agreement of 1994-5.”
RA president touched upon Vienna talks initiated by foreign ministers of OSCE co-chair countries and expressed his hopes concerning the consistent implementation of the decisions adopted jointly with the foreign ministers of co-chair countries.
Russian Prime Minister noted that he is pleased to meet with RA President, stressing, it is actually the second meeting in the past month, which, according to him, describes the level of relations between RA and Russia, the federal nature of the relations between the two countries, particularly the two peoples.
“Today the session of the Union’s Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held in an extended format. Economic issues which are of benefit for all the countries will be observed first of all. I want to extend my gratitude to government leaders, for the invitation to hold this event in Yerevan for the first time. ”
The Head of European Commission, by the way, represents Armenia, which is symbolic in this sense. My last visit to Armenia was in times when the country went through difficult times. In Russia, We kept track of the course of events, trying to assist in the settlement of the existing situation.
"It is necessary to maintain the ceasefire regime. In fact, I totally approve your meeting with Azerbaijani President in Vienna, as well as the efforts within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group to continue the talks in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
