Starting from 2014 the people of Garni and environmentalists occasionally express their concerns about transferring Azat river waters to 12 communities of Ararat region. In fact, this is an irrigation system modernization project, which aims to replace mechanic irrigation system with an automatic one. In order to once again discuss the issue with the people of Garni, governor of Kotayk region, together with State Water Committee leadership and representatives of the design and construction companies have visited the village. However the people of Garni and the environmentalists didn’t welcome the guests with open hearts.
