On the coastal shores of Lake Sevan, there are buckthorn plantations covering a territory of 900 hectares. By an approximate estimate the population gathers maximum 25-30 percent of its harvest, for home canning only. The remaining harvest is spoilt still being on the branches. In order to get and process a sufficient amount of buckthorn harvest, the informal group comprising 5 farmers received a grant project from the Ministry of Agriculture, in the frames of which the factory was granted 20 thousand US dollars.
