Andranik Karapetyan, champion of European Weightlifting Championship 2016 dedicated his victory to the soldiers defending our borders and in memory of heroes who fell victim to the April war. The championship took place in Norway: in the category of 77 kg, the weight fighter held the barbell weighing 170 kg above his head, then pushed the 197kg bar. With total result of 367 kg, Andranik Karapetyan took the highest ranking. The title of vice champion in the category of 77kg , also belongs to Armenia: Champion of Europe 2015 Tigran Martirosyan won silver medal.
