The dedicated Armenian would turn 50 years old this year, however he become a hero for the sake of his Homeland, and this was a conscious choice. After graduating from capital’s number 32 school with honor, he was determined - “An Armenian has no right to become a stoker or a cook. Our homeland needs strategist soldiers, since we have an age-old enemy”. These were the words he uttered before becoming a volunteer in Afghanistan, fought against the enemy and it was then that Azerbaijani people considered him their greatest enemy. Afterwards followed Artsakh war. From the very beginning Vardan Stepanyan fought on front lines. He was a soldier of idea and action by nature.
