Auguste Rodin's statue of Jules Bastien-Lepage can be found in the heart of Yerevan. The bronze sculpture by a friend of Emil Zolyan, a representative of French Naturalism painting, decorates the French Square, surrounded by main streets carrying the name of great Armenians, such as, Baghramyan, Sayat-Nova, Mashtots avenue, as well as Roden and Lepage starting from 2011.
Robin’s sculpture dedicated to Bastilen-Lepage completes the image of the French Square. It symbolizes friendly relations between the two countries. Years ago, Nicolas Sarkozy, former President of France, admitted Armenia being in the heart of France from the very beginning, and, no doubt, France is in the same place for Armenians as well.
