March 4th is the birthday of Aleksandr Tamanyan, author of stone symphony architecture. The founder of Armenian new architecture was born on March 4th, 1878. The works by his pencil have opened new opportunities for developing traditions of Armenian architecture, as well as for creation of new ones by initiating Tamanyan School of architecture. One of Yerevan streets, as well as Union of Armenian architects are named after Tamanyan, however it is Yerevan itself that reminds about main architecture of Armenia. In 2001 Union of Armenian architects has established a gold medal after Tamanyan.
