Each year on the eve of Exaltation of the Cross the inhabitants of Takhcha village of Javakhk celebrate the foundation day of the village. In 1835, 10 which were displaced from the Umudum village of Erzurum, moved to Javakhk and founded Takhcha village.
But the immigrants didn't find rest in the new place. For killing their reckless leader Turkish bandits burned alive 400 out of 720 inhabitants of the village.
A four sided cross stone was placed in the village with the help of Russian inhabited Andranik Surmalyan and his friends who were from Takhcha. The four sides symbolize the founding of Takhcha, 1918 tragedy, the memory of victims of the Great Patriotic War and Artsakh war.
