The great Armenian conductor Ohan Duryan was born on September 8, 1922. The musician who studied conducting in Jerusalem led the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra till 1950.
From 1962 to 1969 Ohan Duryan, as a guest, performed with the Leipzig “Gewandhaus” Orchestra.
Duryan was one of those singular artists who earned the pure positive opinions of more than 300 international musicologists. The maestro was able to lead an orchestra and put the audience in awe even without a score and conductor's stick.
