August 30 is the International Day of the Disappeared. That day in Armenia is celebrated twice, one more time on June 29.
On June 29, 1992 during the defence battles in the Hasanghaya village of Artsakh 79 Armenian freedom fighters disappeared. Only in 2008 the version that they died and were not missing was confirmed.
Till now more than a thousand freedom fighters from Armenia and Artsakh are considered missing in action, more than 200 from Armenia, more than 700 from Artsakh.
The son of the inhabitant of the house 13, Khachaghbyur village, Mariam Poghosyan is also missing. She waits for the knock on her door every day. Strictly 22 years have passed since her son Andranik disappeared, but all the same she waits for his return. She believes that he will by all means return home.
