There is not a department of rock music in Komitas State Conservatory. Instead, thanks to rock musician Suren and violinist Edgar Frangyan, some of Komitas’ sharakans (Armenian church psalms) have a rock sounding.
There are also alternative reworked variants next to the Armenian music culture of centuries. Edik Beglaryan proposes to listen to the pure melodies of folk music.
Passing from one generation to another, military-patriotic songs have been reworked today and contain elements of rock.
