In 1986 the International Whaling Commission banned the hunting of whales. Whales existed even 55 million years ago. They are the largest animals of the world.
The average whale length is 22-27 meters, their heart is in the size of a car and weighs 600-700 kg.
8000 liters of blood passes through their veins. They have the loudest voice among all animals, but have a poor vision. Hearing is the whales’ strongest sense. It helps in right orientation and finding food.
Whales do not eat the 8 months of the year but are satisfied with the accumulated fat. In summer they eat uninterruptedly, up to 3 tons of food per day.
In ancient times people had an accentuated love for dolphins. In Ancient Greece it was considered a crime to kill dolphins. Greeks called the dolphins “holy fishes”.
