The monument constructed at an artificial island is a mixture of high technologies and luxurious eastern architectural styles. The construction of the megastructure was entrusted to a team of daring young people, who had almost no experience but many innovative ideas.
The sail-hotel was intended to be as symbolic as the Paris Eifel Tower, Sydney Opera House or New York Statue of Liberty. For that very purpose it was intended to give a simple but a unique look to the structure. For building the 321-meter-heigh Burj al Arab first it was necessary to create an artificial island 2 km away from the shore.
