I had great success and disgraceful defeat. I accepted both as a part of my journey.
Art is a universal concept. I am in the film industry since I was 12 and I’m grateful that I can communicate with people who bear art. It is difficult to tell which director I prefer, each of them had his role in my life. I’m sure that what needs to happen, happens.
I’m happy that I met Polanski. He is a wonderful director, without exaggerations.
Receiving “Parajanov's Thaler” award was a great honor for me.
Already in the airport I felt that Yerevan is an open, hospitable city. My friends gave me a large basket of apricots. In fact Armenia welcomed me with apricots both as a fruit and as a festival symbol.
I travel a lot, I love to sometimes wander alone in unfamiliar cities. That way I discover the cities and the people living there. Just like that I was wandering in the area of “Moscow” cinema. They asked me “How they left you alone?” to which I said “I ran away”.
Armenians are joyful and hospitable people. It is pleasant that people familiar and non-familiar smile to you and wish you good things.
To achieve one’s dream, one must work, work very much. The heroes of my last film, who were sportsmen, were like that. I learned much from them.
Everyone has rises and falls. I had great success and disgraceful defeat. I accepted both as a part of my journey. The most important thing after defeat is rising to your feet again.
