The photographer managed to do his job and to leave 7 wonderful shots in the history.
La Jument lighthouse is built on the shore of the Iroise Sea. The water of the British shores are the most dangerous in Europe. Because of storms it took 7 years to finish the construction works of the lighthouse. Its construction had begun in the 19th century. The lighthouse is also called a “hell” by many people.
On December 21, 1989, photographer Jean Guichard traveled to the lighthouse by a helicopter to take some photos. A strong storm began immediately. But the lighthouse must always be bright, and there was a worker for it.
Théodore Malgorn heard the helicopter and went downstairs thinking rescuers had come. He quickly opened the door, and a huge wave surrounded the lighthouse. Malgorn ran back and closed the door. The photographer managed to do his job and to leave 7 wonderful shots in the history.
