The agreement of Armenia joining the Chinese initiative New Silk Road was reached at the end of March during President Serzh Sargsyan’s state visit to China. With this program China wants to restore the historical Silk Road from Shanghai to Berlin including over one third of the world’s population.
The road connecting the East and the West is mentioned in the history from the second century B.C. and is related to the Chinese traveler and diplomat Zhang Qian’s diplomatic mission to Middle East.
