The first role of Galya Novents was in a film by Frunze Dovlatyan. Many actors debuted in the film “Hello, It’s Me”.
The explosive and highly emotional Galya Novents comes from a simple, traditional family. Her aunt, another distinguished actress Lyusya Hovhannisyan, was the first wife of Khoren Abrahamyan. After finishing school Galya studied at Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Fine Arts. During that period Armen Jigarkhanyan, Henrik Hovhannisyan, Guzh Manukyan and the future husband of the actress – Yervand Ghazanchyan, used to disturb the classes, laughed and shined with their play. Together they studied at Armen Gulakyan’s Art Studio.

The role of Siranush made the Armenian spectator both happy and upset. But the role was not intended for Galya Novents at the beginning. Albert Mkrtchyan wanted to give it to Georgian actress Sofiko Chiaureli. Novents had already familiarized herself with the scenario and had liked the character. When she heard that she would not play the role, she had such an emotional outburst that Albert Mkrtchyan understood Galya is Siranush.
