One of the most attractive and visited sights in the Czech Republic is Charles Bridge. It is a famous historic bridge that crosses the Vltava River in Prague. Modern architects call the medieval architectural masterpiece “a museum under the open sky”.
22-year-old architect Peter Parler was the architect of the bridge. The construction was commissioned by Charles IV, and lasted 50 years. The bridge is 621 m long and nearly 10 m wide, resting on 16 arches shielded by ice guards.
