Today this picture with a barrette of a Cuban revolutionist can be met on posters, cups and other souvenirs. The photo was taken on March 5, 1960, during the memorial service of the people killed from the explosion of La Coubre ship. The author of the photo is Alberto Korda, Fidel Castro’s official photographer of that time.
Alberto has told that at that moment he was amazed by the face expression of the 31-year-old Che. His look expressed absolute firmness, anger and pain. The photographer managed to press the camera button only 3 times.
