The photo has been taken during a similar attempt – in 1963, when the Germans were trying to find their relatives on the other side of the border.
In August 1961 Berlin was divided into 2 parts just in one night: streets, rivers, roads and even life were divided here. Family members, relatives, friends, lovers and classmates were separated suddenly and unexpectedly and appeared in different sides of the border.
The residents of West Germany were not allowed to visit East Germany even under the condition of returning. The only way to see the relatives on the other side of the wall was climbing it, which was prohibited too.
