According to the preliminary decision, after renovation this room will serve as a gathering place for Armenian and Georgian writers.
Hovhannes Tumanyan born in Dsegh, Lori Region, moved to Tbilisi in 1883 and spent most of his life there. A few decades after Tumanyan’s death, his house in Tbilisi was in a grave condition - the owner of the house wanted to sell it.
Thanks to the support of caring compatriots the part for sale was bought. Recently it became known that one of the Armenian benefactors bought the remaining part. All-Armenian poet’s house has been handed over to the Armenian Diocese of Georgia of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
According to the preliminary decision, after renovation this room will serve as a gathering place for Armenian and Georgian writers. One of the rooms will be furnished in the spirit of Tumanyan, and the other one will be given to the Writers’ Union of Armenia and will be named after Levon Ananyan.
