The most famous photo in the history of football was taken in 1970 during the World Cup tournament running in Mexico. The author of the photo is English photographer John Varley, who was a great football lover. According to his contract signed with The Daily Mirror, the editorial office had to give him a short holiday every four years, during which he could go to watch the matches for the World Cup.
In 1970 he reached the opening of the World Cup tournament with great difficulty: the car broke down. Nevertheless, he reached the place and captured his most famous shot. The match between the National Teams of Brazil and England finished with a score of 1-0 in favor of Brazil.
The Brazilian team was in Mexico with a starry team – Pele, Jairzinho, Carlos Alberto Torres. Bobby Moore was the captain of the National Team of England. After the match Pele approached Moore and as a sign of respect they embraced exchanging their sport shirts. The photo of the two football players from opposing teams soon spread in the press throughout the world and brought fame to John Varley.
