The people of Sarnaghbyur also fought against Turkish squads in May 1918. They heroically stood against the enemy and killed the Turkish commander that day.
Despite their heroic fight, there are few reminders about them in history. They say that especially women stood out during the battles against Turks. The whole population of Shirak field took part in the Sarnaghbyur battle.
The celebration of the anniversary of the Sarnaghbyur battle is a tradition. Almost every inhabitant of Sarnaghbyur, people from nearby villages and representatives of local government come to participate.
