The first film with showing of which the cinema opened was “Pepo”.
The building of “Moscow” cinema was built in 1937 by architects Tiran Yerkanyan and Gevorg Kochar in the heart of the capital. Before this monument the architects already had an experience of constructing a cinema in other cities of Armenia. Poghos-Petros Church was located on the site of the Moscow Cinema, and for deconstructing it people blamed Tiran Yerkanyan inside their hearts, though he had no connection with that decision.
The construction of the building entirely corresponds to the principles and style of the international architecture of the early 20th century. The cinema’s productive activity of many years proves that even the two halls were not enough for this building.
