The first faucet was invented in Ancient Rome. It was merely a gold or silver pipe which joined the general waterline. This type of faucet has a history of 2000 years. Medieval faucets were intended for wine and beer barrels.
The 19th-century technical progress prompted people to place the faucet in apartments. In 1783 English engineer Joseph Braman invented a faucet with a screw which was named “British valve”. These faucets uninterruptedly worked more than a hundred year.
Already in the 19th century physicist William Tomson invented a transferring device, which connected warm and cold faucets.
In 1950 faucets with one handle first appeared in the system of water supply. The author of this revolutionary discovery was our compatriot, businessman and philanthropist Alek Manukyan. Manukyan invented and patented a faucet named “Delta”, thanks to which warm and cold water was possible to mix, as well as to control the volume of the water flow. The faucet widely spread, and “Nasco” company founded by Alek Manukyan got profit of $ 1 million.
