The agreement of providing Russian weapons to the Iraq Army was achieved by the Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi during his visit in Moscow. There he met the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitri Medvedev and then also the President Vladimir Putin. On registering the weapons agreement between Baghdad and Moscow the US Department of State declared that the agreement doesn't bother them. The speaker of the Department of State said that Iraq has the right to purchase weapons from Russia and any other country to solve their self-defence problems.
