In 1945 Hugo Jaeger had stayed face to face with American soldiers in Munich.
Hugo Jaeger was one of Hitler’s personal photographers. He was the first among the German photojournalists, whose photos were not white and black but colored. With just one touch of his hand Hugo has perpetuated the first figures of Germany, their official meetings and everyday life.
In 1945 Hugo Jaeger had stayed face to face with American soldiers in Munich. The photographer knew that if soldiers find the photos of the German officials and reveal his personal connection with Hitler, he would be sentenced to death. Fortunately, the soldiers did not find them during their first quest. For security the photographer put the photos in iron containers and buried in different parts of the city. And only after one decade, in 1955, he was able to take off his treasures and this time to keep in Swiss banks. Already in 1970 that collection of photos was sold to Life Magazine.
