On December 10, 1957, photographer of the Washington Daily News William Bill captured the fatal moment of his life.
People had gathered in Chinatown, Washington, to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which was accompanied by parades. A child, who did not care at all what was happening there, tried to cross the street from an inadmissible part and to approach the Chinese dragon. And the police officer, who did not allow him to come up to it, had to come to terms with the child.
The photographer captured that moment of the dialogue. Thanks to that moment William Bill was awarded a Pulitzer Prize.
The award helped the photographer to work in more prestigious magazines, and enabled the police officer to assume a higher office. The child’s destiny is not known, whereas he brought success to the photo with his convincing expression of face.
