This photo was taken on December 8, 1980. It portrays John Lennon, one of the founders of the legendary Beatles band. In the photo he gives a signature to Mark David Chapman, a man, whokilled him 6 hours after getting that signature.
At first Chapman had been a fan of the Beatles, but then he became a fanatic member of a religious group, and changed his position. He was very annoyed at Lennon’s expression as if The Beatles has become more famous than Jesus.
When Lennon left home to go to a recording studio on December 8, 1980, Chapman stopped him and asked his signature. The musician could not suspect anything. After several hours when Lennon was returning home from the recording studio, Chapman saw him and cried, “Hey, Mr Lennon”. And then shot him 5 times. The musician was shot dead: the 4 bullets had reached their goal. After the murder Chapman did not run away. When police officers came, he was reading a book sitting on the asphalt.
