Germany joins the effort of Armenia to recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide and the international struggle to prevent genocides. The centennial of the Armenian Genocide was commemorated in the German city of Oldenburg. The commemoration ceremony started with the declaration of the mayor of Oldenburg Germaid Eilers-Dörfler.
"After analyzing the incidents that happened a hundred years ago I can say that it is very important for us to recognize the Armenian Genocide. The world must be unanimous in this issue, we need to mourn and demand together. The coming generations must know the truth", said the mayor. The pictures of the German-Armenian painter Suren Changlyan were also exhibited during the 2 day event in Oldenburg dedicated to Armenia.
