Goldma published the wish of the Armenian child and the photo of the photojournalist’s grandchild in Los Angeles Times.
Los Angeles Times correspondent Kerry Goldma was in Armenia in 1995. He had come to cover the military state of Artsakh. While returning from Artsakh, he was accompanied by photojournalist Martin Shahbazyan. After the long travel the photojournalist invited home the dear guest with Armenian hospitality: here his neighbors and relative had gathered next to fire.
Kerry was surprised seeing so many people in the same house. Martin Shahbazyan perfectly remembers a funny incident that happened that day.
“It was already 09:30 when the grandma took the children to sleep. There was a full moon, and she said, “Look, Mayisik, what a beautiful full moon.” The child naively replied, “Grandma, cannot we take a light from the moon in an illegal way? The whole building will be lighted then, and we will give light to everyone.”
Goldma published the wish of the Armenian child and the photo of the photojournalist’s grandchild in Los Angeles Times. The article provoked high interest in America; readers demanded the child’s address to help him.
