At the threshold of the Armenian genocide centennial the world cinematography again became active.
After the Armenian genocide committed at the beginning of the past century there was a need to present the matter by means of art. Films occupy a unique place among the artworks created in different years. The film “Ravished Armenia” screened several years after the genocide, for example, presents the story of Aurora Mardiganyan, a genocide survivor.
Later Henri Verneuil’s film “Mayrig” (“Mother”), Atom Egoyan’s “Ararat” and many other famous films were shot. At the threshold of the Armenian genocide centennial the world cinematography again became active. “The Scar” film by Fatih Akin caused a true stir in box offices.
