Hrachya Rukhkyan has painted many distinguished Armenian art workers and historical figures. During the awards ceremony of creating Sayat-Nova’s character Hrachya Rukhkyan won the first prize: the awards ceremony was dedicated to Sayat-Nova’s 150th birthday anniversary.
The jury was comprised of Nairi Zaryan, Avetik Isahakyan and Martiros Saryan. Sayat-Nova’s portrait became the guarantee of the artist’s successful career. Rukhkyan’s “Buyl Hantcharats” series of paintings depicting Sayat-Nova, Mesrop Mashtots, Movses Khorenatsi, Mkhitar Heratsi, Anania Shirakatsi, Toros Roslin, Saint Gregory of Narek (Grigor Narekatsi), Mkhitar Sebastatsi, David the Invincible (Davit Anhaght), is still in the center of art experts’ attention.
