Though the St. Savior church is active in the village the inhabitants of Shenavan consider their duty to each time light a candle before the 300 year old book.
The 300 year old Gospel which by a miracle survived the Genocide reached Shenavan village thanks to Arshaluys Karapetyan's grandfather.
He saved the sacred book and bequeathed it to his grandson. The ancient Gospel was kept as the apple of the eye not only by Karapetyans but also by the whole village.
