Hearing of the destructive earthquake of 1988, Charles rushed to the homeland. Numerous citizens and mass media representatives had gathered and were waiting for the airplane arriving from France. That day journalists did everything possible to speak to Aznavour, but in vain.
Charles was going to stay in Armenia 48 hours instead of the planned 72. The singer wanted to see the devastated cities and to speak to the victims as soon as possible.
