The Women's Army Corps was founded in the United States in 1942. 800 women in Iowa State took classes of military preparedness.
Photojournalist Mary Hense captured the first working minutes of the women in the military. The editors of the magazine had written that 1500 women participated in the military and educational trainings. Soon their number reached 6000. They noted that next April about 25 000 women would finish the trainings and would be enlisted.
The female soldiers were to replace the men in all the places where they could. Many people had prejudice concerning these women: they were considered to be immoral.
