Photographer Harry Benson has photographed a great number of celebrities for more than half a century. Today his photos tell endless stories about the life of famous people.
In 1960 the photojournalist was getting ready for his regular business trip to Uganda to cover the latest events and to take the best shots. At the last minute the editor called him and said he must travel to Paris instead of Uganda and take the picture of the British quartet portrayed in the photo. Harry considered himself a serious photographer, and the Beatles were just beginning their steps in the show business.
Later the photographer noted that the boys’ natural play made the photo move and be alive. The boys had liked the photos, except Paul. He continued to think that they had appeared in a silly situation. But soon they became close friends, and that photo became Harry’s visiting card.
