In an interview with the Life Magazine Nabokov had told the reporter that he had often dreamed of a long and interesting career in a big museum of butterflies.
51 years ago the LIFE magazine published an article titled “The Master of Versatility”. The hero was the world-famous writer, translator and pedagogue Vladimir Nabokov. The editors had decided to present another field of the writer’s activity – entomology.
Photojournalist Carl Mydans managed to capture the moment when Nabokov was chasing butterflies together with his wife. That article of the magazine was decorated with that very picture.
