The roots of the Armenian theatre go to first millennium BC when staged ceremonies were implemented dedicated to goddesses Anahit and Gisane. Theatre was greatly valued during the rule of Tigran The Great. During those years a building like Hellenistic amphitheaters was built in the capital city Tigranakert where performances were played.
The Armenian theatre which has old traditions keeps up with the holiday. Today the best performances are staged, premiers take place, events of theatre devotees awards are organized both worldwide and in our theatres.
