New circumstances have been revealed concerning the plane crash in French Alps. Duesseldorf prosecutors have found a torn-up sick note in the main suspect co-pilot’s house. It states that Andreas Lubitz shouldn’t have gone to work on the day of the plane crash, and that he has concealed his health issues from his employer. It was previously reported that Lubitz suffered from mental depression and had received treatment at Duesseldorf University Hospital.
German prosecutors have found out that Andreas Lubitz had a serious mental depression in 2009, when his girlfriend left him. He was forced to quit his education as he was receiving medical treatment for 18 months. His employers were not aware of the fact that he used to take psychotropic medication before the disaster. The prosecutors also found out that on the very same day of the crash, March 24, Lubitz was given a sick note and some prescriptions by the doctor.
German and French prosecutors see the cause of the disastrous event of March 24 the inattention and inconsistency of German airlines as well as the doctor treating Andreas Lubitz for 6 years.
The brother of one of the victims has already filed a lawsuit against Lufthansa accusing the company of being inattentive while choosing pilots and letting only one pilot in the pilots’ cabin.
By the way, from now on many airlines have adopted a rule which presupposes the presence of 2 pilots in the pilots’ cabin. In other words, if one of the pilots leaves the cabin, the presence of a member of crew in the cabin is obligatory.
