A lot of events in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide are being held in renowned educational institutions of the world. Lesley University of Cambridge hosted an exhibition called “The Future of the Past: A History Ignored – Honoring the 100-Year Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide through Art and Dialogue.” Artists, participating in this exhibition, presented through their art the intergenerational trauma caused by the Genocide and its continued denial.
Artist Joyce Gostanian Kierejczyk hosted an Art Hop event in the art space gallery at Fresno City College. At the entrance the guests were greeted with a mound of forget-me-nots. Under the hanging sculptures were piles of raisins made to look like graves, where guests could place
their flowers. The number of about 1000-pound raisins symbolizes 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide. This month, the Yale Dramatic Association will present its play “ERMENI” about an Armenian American family in the aftermath of the Armenian Genocide.
