In soviet years Manuk Abeghyan published the works “Theory of Armenian Language”, “Old Folk Gousan Songs” and the research work of “Daredevils of Sassoun”.
In soviet years Armenian linguistics had several outstanding names. They devoted their entire life and activity to study and development of the language. Manuk Abeghyan was one of those devotees. He was born in Astapat village, Nakhijevan, studied at Gevorgian Seminary, Etchmiadzin, then in Europe, received PhD in philosophy.

Manuk Abeghyan was the first to scientifically coordinate the phonetics of Eastern Armenian, revealed the phenomena of sound changes, studied lexicology and word-formation.
