We kindly urge the media to avoid unnecessary political speculations, distortion of facts, and doubting the regulations of the contest.
Armenia has always participated in Eurovision Song Contest in a serious manner and high responsibility, as well as with respect to the regulations of the contest. Armenia has always participated in Eurovision following this principle, and the same principle is followed this year.
Band Genealogy will present Armenia in the contest with the song “Don’t deny”, which is about overall human values. The only thing the song wants to convey is, “Happiness is born when a person is in harmony with himself, his family, love and other affairs. Generations do change, but genealogy does not. Thus, the values of love and solidarity are everlasting.”
We are surprised by the fact that some foreign media try to politicize the song, hinder our participation, and doubt image. We do not accept such a working style and distortion of facts. We look forward to your support in disseminating the clarified information, as well as not disseminating inaccurate one.
Eurovision is not a political space but a cultural one, were ‘bridges are built’ between countries, cultures, traditions, and artists. We consider unacceptable any kind of speculation on any political topic in this European song platform.
So far Eurovision is very world-known. It is 60 years old and it is a dream for many singers first of all due to its rules and regulations. And those regulations are signed by the participant country. So, no country can make a proposal of a politicized, commercial song or performance violating the rating of the contest.
We claim once again that searching for political complexions in the song “Don’t deny” is pure imagination or a guided desire to communicate political meaning to it.
We kindly urge the media to avoid unnecessary political speculations, distortion of facts, and doubting the regulations of the contest.
Let us recall that Armenia will be presented in 2015 Eurovision Song Contest by the band Genealogy, which inspired us to come up with this year’s motto. We ‘have built a bridge’ between the past and the present, the Armenian genealogy and world music, Armenia and Eurovision.
