An unknownphotographer captured the moment of a friendly talk between the merchant in classic clothing and the scientist in beachwear.
One September day Albert Einstein was having a rest in Long Island together with his friend David Rotman. The scientist had a summer cottage there, and Rotman was a shop owner.
Einstein had bought shoes from him paying only $ 1.35 for them. The white sandals became the occasion of the friendship between Rotman and Einstein. The two friends often met and talked. Probably Einstein told about the processes taking place in the universe and the merchant told about a new collection of shoes or successful trade.
