In 1977 United Nations proclaimed March 8 to be the International Women’s Day.
In 1910 during the second International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen it was established that the working woman’s right to vote, to be employed, and to receive equal salary could be achieved only by means of revolutionary struggle.
As proposed by Clara Zetkin, they decided during the conference to announce March 8 as the International Women’s Day. It became a celebration of an ordinary woman who has created history.
The International Women’s Day was first celebrated in Austria, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland in 1911. And in Russia it was first celebrated in 1914. And in 1977 United Nations proclaimed March 8 to be the International Women’s Day.
