For the image and unique architectural style of the modern Yerevan we owe to Alexander Tamanyan. The architect, who received his education in Russia, came to Armenia during the years of the first republic and traveled to Zangezur. He built a temporary bridge for refugees over Arax River and saved the life of thousands of people.
Already in the soviet years Tamanyan undertook the creation of the general plan of Yerevan, designed and built many original buildings that gave a breath to the city.
