The birthday of the renowned painter, translator and art critic Vardges Sureniants is on February 27.
Sureniants was the first artist that transferred the Armenian history to the canvas, contributed to development of graphics and publishing industry.
Vardges Sureniants created a series of thematic compositions depicting the Armenian massacres. Thanks to him the Armenian art was touched with European currents of fine art.
